3 things to do before every workout
An effective workout session begins with solid pre-workout routine. Preparing for a workout should start long before you step on the gym machines or break a sweat. Good preparations equal good results and vice versa. Poor preparation can lead to ...
...unmotivated work out sessions and even injury for this reason derailing your muscle gain or weight loss goals. Well, you do not have to go through that anymore. Fitness trainer Patrick Solano from Torrance Gym in California shared his master pre-workout tips that will spice up your workout routine.
Eat early
You should stock up your energy reserves before every workout. Solano advises that you eat and hour or two before you begin working out, depending on your digestive system. The timing could vary from person to person as some people get stomach upsets if they eat too close to work out.
Foods rich in proteins and carbohydrates should be on the menu. Fruits such as bananas, oranges, whole bread, white meat and peanut butter sandwich would be a good choice to start the day with. A peanut butter sandwich is great because it has proteins, carbohydrates and fats they are great energy boosters.
Protein shakes are the best. They contain abundant amounts of amino acids that are easily digestible and boost your energy levels.
Drink plenty of water
Here the 7 liter a day rule does not count. The amount of water you should take before a workout varies with age, weight, gender, height, and the intensity of your workouts. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that 20 ounces of water is enough prior to an exercise. Just like food take water at least 30 minutes before your workout.
If you are well hydrated you will not experience cramps, dizziness or other side effects instead your energy levels will go up and so will chances of building muscle.
Go over your workout schedule
Revisit your workout schedule every day; you can do this with your fitness trainer if you are working at the gym. Scheduling different exercises for every other day will motivate you to try different stuff each day, helping you to stick to your fitness routine.
Warm –up
This is a must do if you do not want to experience muscle cramps and injury. Warming up by stretching, on the low-moderate speed on the treadmill or the foam mill will open up your muscles and release tension making your workout much easier
Make a music playlist
Psychologically music is a great motivator in fitness. Most gym instructors play upbeat music during workouts to keep people going. Selections of Daft Punk, Katy Perry, Pink and Britney Spears music are great motivators. Personally, I go for Eminem and 50 Cent.
